Plumbing services for Ocoee homes and businesses
Every call starts with the same question: where is the water, and is it still moving? From there the work falls into six groups, and each group links to a full page that explains how we handle it.
Water heaters
Hot water trouble usually starts with a leak, a cold shower or a rumbling tank. Water heater repair comes first when the tank is sound. When it is not, replacement or a planned installation follows, and a tankless unit is worth pricing if you run out of hot water often.
Drains and sewer
A single slow sink is a job for drain cleaning. Repeat clogs call for hydro jetting, and a house-wide backup points to sewer line cleaning. A camera inspection shows what the line looks like, and sewer line repair covers the break itself.
Leaks and pipes
Water where it should not be starts with leak detection, and a floor that feels warm may mean a slab leak. A split line needs burst pipe repair now, and tired, leaking supply lines are the case for repiping.
Fixtures
Most fixture calls are small until a supply line lets go. We handle toilet repair, faucet repair and garbage disposal repair, and we say plainly when a repair costs more than the part is worth.
Installs and water quality
New work gets its own scope under plumbing installation, from vents and rough-ins to gas lines. If spots and scale bother you, water softener and filtration depends on the numbers in the city report, which we walk through with you.
Commercial
Small offices, shops, restaurants and managed buildings get commercial plumbing service with after-hours dispatch, because a leak in a closed building does not wait for Monday.
Ocoee plumbing, shaped by Ocoee
The facts below come from city reports, state agencies and the National Weather Service. Each one changes how we approach a call, and we explain the link in plain words.
Water from the Floridan Aquifer
The City of Ocoee draws its water from wells between 340 and 1,450 feet deep, then aerates and chlorinates it. The 2025 city report lists hardness at 5 to 6 grains per gallon, which the report itself calls moderate. That means scale builds slowly, so we look at your heater and fixtures before suggesting any treatment.
Purple pipes and reclaimed water
Ocoee sends more than 4 million gallons of reclaimed water a day to irrigation systems. It is treated wastewater, not drinking water, and the city says cross-connections with potable lines are not allowed. If a hose bib or sprinkler line looks wrong, call the city utilities line at 407-905-3159 before touching it.
Storms and saturated ground
Milton in October 2024 dropped 4 to 8 inches of rain across Orange County, and Ian in 2022 produced 10 to 20 inches across central Florida according to the National Hurricane Center. Know where your main shutoff valve is before the season starts, because a pipe that fails in a storm will not wait for a plumber to arrive.
Dips in the yard that look like sinkholes
The Florida Geological Survey says collapsed or broken sewer and drain pipes can mimic sinkhole activity. If you see a new depression near the house, keep water out of it and book a sewer camera inspection so you know whether it is a pipe or something deeper.
Homes from the 1980s and 1990s
A city housing study based on 2000 Census counts found that about seven in ten Ocoee homes were built in 1980 or later, and nearly half in the 1990s. Many of those homes are now on their second or third water heater and may have aging supply lines, so a leak check is a sensible first step when a bill jumps.
Fifty West and the SR 50 corridor
The Fifty West district runs along State Road 50 and is anchored by West Oaks Mall and Orlando Health Central Hospital. Food service tenants there fall under the city sewer manual, which calls for an approved grease interceptor, so commercial plumbing calls often start with grease and drains.
Emergency plumber coverage in Ocoee and nearby towns
Dispatch covers Ocoee (34761) and the towns below, including Winter Garden (34787), Apopka (32712, 32703), Windermere (34786), Pine Hills (32818, 32808). Calls from Orlando, Maitland and Winter Park neighbors are taken as well, so call (321) 463-9969 and give the address to confirm availability. Not sure it is an emergency? Describe it on the same call and the plumber will say whether it can wait: (321) 463-9969.
Winter Garden
Winter Garden mixes brick downtown buildings with newer plats, runs its own city water and sewer, and has reclaimed water that comes and goes. Plumbing calls here depend on which part of town you live in.
Apopka
Apopka's city water is moderately hard, so scale on heaters and fixtures leads the problem list. Reclaimed irrigation and a city grease program for restaurants shape the rest of the plumbing work here.
Windermere
A small lakeside town on Orange County water and wastewater, reached from Ocoee by an estimated 11-minute drive. Storm-season leaks, hidden irrigation losses and older Main Street plats shape the calls.
Pine Hills
A large unincorporated community bordering Ocoee, with 1950s to 1970s homes, mixed OUC and county water, county sewer and septic-to-sewer conversions underway. Permits run through Orange County, not a city.
Questions Ocoee homeowners ask before they call
Shut off the main water valve where the supply line enters the house, then open a faucet at the lowest point to drain the line. If water is near outlets, appliances or the electrical panel, switch off power to that area only if you can reach the breaker without standing in water.
Move rugs and furniture out of the wet zone, take photos for your insurer, and call the 24/7 line. A technician will ask where the water is coming from and whether it has stopped.
Yes. The dispatch line is open 24 hours a day, every day, and the plumber who answers will ask what is happening so the right crew goes out. Same-day appointments are offered when the schedule allows, and a clear price is given before work starts.
The City of Ocoee maintains the meter and the delivery system up to and including the meter. You are responsible for the lines and fixtures from the meter to the house, according to the city's utility service form.
For a problem on the city side, the Utilities page on ocoee.org lists 407-905-3159 for utility questions and 407-428-5766 as the after-hours emergency number. If you live in Forest Lake Estates, your water comes from Orange County Utilities instead.
The City of Ocoee Utilities 2025 water quality report lists hardness at 5 to 6 grains per gallon. The report's own scale calls that moderate, with soft below 5 and hard above 12.
The city draws its water from Floridan Aquifer wells and disinfects it with chlorine. For most homes that means scale builds slowly, so whether a softener pays off depends on what you see on fixtures and in the water heater.
The City of Ocoee lists plumbing and gas among the types of work that need a building permit. Permits are handled online at permits.ocoee.org or through the Building Division at 407-905-3104.
State code exempts some small jobs, such as clearing a stoppage or removing and resetting a toilet, as long as no pipes or valves are replaced or rearranged. When the job is bigger, such as a repipe or a new water heater, a licensed plumber normally handles the permit.
The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation runs a license lookup at myfloridalicense.com where you can search by name or license number. Ask any plumber for a license number before work starts and look it up yourself.
Unlicensed contracting is a crime under Florida law, so a plumber who cannot give you a number is a reason to stop and call someone else.
Yes. After the plumber has looked at the problem, you get a clear price before work starts and you decide whether to go ahead. If the job changes once a wall is open or a camera goes down the line, the new price is explained before the work continues.
